Second Letter to the Corinthians 8,16-22.
But thanks be to God who put in the heart of Titus the same eagerness for you that I myself have.
For he not only accepted our appeal, but since he is more eager than ever, he is going to you of his own accord.
With him we are sending the brother who is famous among all the churches for his proclaiming of the good news;
and not only that, but he has also been appointed by the churches to travel with us while we are administering this generous undertaking for the glory of the Lord himself and to show our goodwill.
We intend that no one should blame us about this generous gift that we are administering,
for we intend to do what is right not only in the Lord’s sight but also in the sight of others.
And with them we are sending our brother whom we have often tested and found eager in many matters, but who is now more eager than ever because of his great confidence in you.
Paul tells us about the eagerness of the first disciples. As Jesus had the power to choose and send disciples to evangelize, so Paul and the other apostles received from the Lord the same power to choose and send christian believers where they can realize their charisma.
Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 10,1-7.
After this the Lord appointed seventy others and sent them on ahead of him in pairs to every town and place where he himself intended to go.
He said to them, ‘The harvest is plentiful, but the labourers are few; therefore ask the Lord of the harvest to send out labourers into his harvest.
Go on your way. See, I am sending you out like lambs into the midst of wolves.
Carry no purse, no bag, no sandals; and greet no one on the road.
Whatever house you enter, first say, "Peace to this house!"
And if anyone is there who shares in peace, your peace will rest on that person; but if not, it will return to you.
Remain in the same house, eating and drinking whatever they provide, for the labourer deserves to be paid. Do not move about from house to house.
We have no time to joke and play since we are sent as "lambs into the midst of wolves". We can't do many mistakes or we will pay personally and in a serious way, but we have the power to change those wolves into lambs, with our prayer and with our christian life, by offering every moment of our existence for the conversion and the salvation of all.
